Our Mission

The Chapel Without Walls is a nondenominational, inclusive, progressive worship community dedicated to personal Christian service and Fellowship. Worship is at the center of our time together; individual Christian action is at the center of our lives apart.

It is our intention to provide worship that is inspiring, thought-provoking and transcendent. In this light, our worship service is traditional.  Our music and hymns are chosen from the rich library of classical church music

We do not aspire to build walls around our place of worship, and shall always refrain from walling anyone in or out with doctrinal barriers. It is our mission is to remain a limited-service chapel rather than a full-service church.

The Chapel emphasizes three primary activities each Sunday: worship, coffee social, and educational forums in which open discussion serves to promote enduring fellowship and friendship among those present.

History

The Chapel’s first service was held in the auditorium of the Hilton Head Middle School, on the first Sunday of January, 2004. True to our Without Walls designation our meeting places have been hosted by a number of generous hosts over the years, including Temple Beth Yam in October 2006, then to Cypress Hall at The Cypress in June of 2016.

Beginning in 2020, when it was not safe to gather indoors because of the pandemic, we began to post our services online. See our Video Archives page for a complete index of videos dating all the way back to March 29, 2020. Eventually we began holding services at the Jarvis Creek Pavilion on the north end of Hilton Head Island - literally becoming a Chapel Without Walls! Currently we are meeting indoors at the Island Funeral Home and continuing to post our services online.
